Started this portrait this morning and finished an hour ago. It is painted in acrylic directly on a 3 panel autograph football. I call these "PIGSKIN PORTRAITS" and it is for great friends in Henry County and will be used to raise money for the "Henry County Relay for Life"
The 2011 Senior Banquet Placemat
I had to wait until the season was completed before I could post this latest edition of the senior placemats. The banquet was very subdued this year and I think everyone can understand that. I wish that you could have witnessed the emotion that these young men displayed in their individual speeches. These are great young adults who have been through alot and deserve credit for handling the situation the way they have.
"2011 HOLIDAY CARD"
This is the Ohio State football staffs Holiday card that I illustrated this year. Couldn't post it earlier until all the cards were mailed and recieved. This is the 8th year of illustrating the cards for the OSU staff and I love doing them.
The 2006 Senior Banquet Placemat
I featured Troy Smith and Doug Datish in the middle of this placemat. Other great seniors included Justin Swick, Roy Hall, Quinn Pittcock, Antonio Smith and Stan White Jr. This is one of my favorite plaemats.
2005 OSU Senior Placemat
This is the illustration for the 2005 Ohio State banquet. I really appreciate being invited and attending the senior banquets over the years.
1998 OSU Senior Placemat
I started working on the 2011 Ohio State Buckeye football placemat today and while looking for past reference, I ran across a couple of previous placemat illustrations. This is the illustration that I completed for 1998.
"WE ARE BUCKEYES"
We are fans when they win and fans when they lose, We are fans through triumph and uncertainty, We are fans in the cold of winter and the heat of summer. We are family, WE ARE BUCKEYES!
Earlier this week we recieved the approval from the Ohio State licensing and trademark dept for my latest Buckeye painting titled " WE ARE BUCKEYES" It is now officially licensed by Ohio State! I had to make a few changes from the original and I did understand their concerns, but we can now go forward with the printing and we will be offering the print for the Holiday season. It is not on the Buckeye Country Art site yet, but will be there for preorders starting Nov. 8th.
" 2007 OSU Holiday Card"
We decided to feature the newly renovated Lex Wexner complex for the 2007 card. It was a bit of a challenge to make it work, since I had to add a night snow scene without reference, but I believe it worked.
"2005 OSU Holiday Card"
The reference I used on the 2005 card is from a bridge near Ottawa, Ohio. I took a few liberties with the landscape, changed the shape of the bridge, added some snow and, well maybe it doesn't look like that bridge anymore.
"2004 Ohio State Football Holiday Card"
This was the first holiday card that I illustrated for the Buckeye football program. I had been working on senior placemats for a few years with Deb Broecker, Jim Tressel's head assistant and she asked if I would be interested in designing and painting a Holiday card for the staff. I was very honored that she asked me, and of course, said yes.
The house I used as reference in this painting is Mark and Marti Ellerbrocks home outside of Ottawa, Ohio. They are great people and were kind enough to let me use their home as a model.
