 We have a meeting tomorrow night at 7:00 at the Schroeder building. 
I have the information on the Camelot performance at the dinner theatre, LaComedia on March 14th. 
If you are interested in traveling with us to the show here are the cost.
We will be sitting in the section 1 area of the room and the regular cost is $69.00, but we as a group will get a discount and be paying just $50.00 per person. ( We got an additional $2.00 off because of scheduling early in the performances run).  The bus ride and will cost everyone $30.00.
Your cost for ticket and ride is $80.00
So you are actually paying just $11.00 for the bus ride when you consider the regular price is $69.00.
We need to get at least 30 people to make this trip possible and I need to know by Friday.

Here was the webblog that we had in the past and it has many additional features that I haven't even used yet.
We can put up artists galleries, the artists can even sell artwork from the site and it is not costing the club any money.
Do you like the site or do we want to start over with a new one?

BRAG MEETING FEB 21

We are having a special meeting on Thursday Feb. 21 at 7:00 at the Schroeder building in Ottawa Ohio.
We will be discussing the summer art show and we need everyones input and ideas.
We are also changing are meetings from the second Tuesday to the second Thursday of each month.

January 8th BRAG Meeting Notes

Here are the notes from last nights meeting provided by Bruce....

We had a relaxed meeting . there were 6 of us there. Ruen, Schroeders, Mary Jo, and Mary Recker].. We talked about the Home and Garden show. Doing it much like last year..letting only Brag members who show up to work a few hours can display their work.. maybe try to get music and live artists..

The members talked about the committees for the ART FEST IN THE PARK. Mary Jo has reserved the Sat. in June [the 17th i believe]. Mary Jo is going to talk to last years big sponsors for another donation..[Banks, Time Warner,,etc.] We thought you , Don, could talk to Butch again and see if he would do the entertainment again. WE need to start thinking about getting other artists to come and setup...WE will contact the food people who came last year.

We talked about an ART WALK and came up with the 'BRAG Scenic Biway Cruise' . THe Gilboa Winery would like us to have a show or display there. WE could bring in food, no holes in the walls as ther is little wall space, put we could show in the large space. WE thought the Cruise could take in Glandorf to Ottawa to Gilboa. We picked a date of Sept. 20th. To be continnnnnued....

Personally ... I absolutely love the art walk idea, name and date! If anyone has any feedback I'd love to hear it.

January 8th BRAG Meeting

We will have our next meeting this next Tuesday Jan. 8th at 7:00 at the Doug and Karen Schroeder building.
Enter in the side by the Orchid beauty shop and follow the sign to the upstairs.

Holly and I will not be there because we have tickets to see the play "Evita". It was a fantastic Christmas gift from my wife.

Here is some of what I was going to bring up at the meeting;

First I was wondering if we should table the Artwalk until a later date and just start focusing on the Fathers day artshow. It will be rolling around alot faster that we sometimes think and we need to get our committees organized. I think that we should start getting the volunteers for the committees lined up at this meeting or the next at the latest.

Some of these need to be put together sooner than others.
The first should be Artists and the Ads and Promo committees.

Committees would include: ads and promotion / music and entertainment / writers corner / food and beverage / sponsorships from business and banks / and of course the artists committee.

What about a committee or person that would like to contact the high school art programs in the area and have a special place for them at the show? ( just a random thought )

The ads and promotions would be in charge of getting the word out through ads and press releases in the media, (paper, radio, and television).
I guess all the committees are self explantary so I won't describe what we need for each.

We will need volunteers for all of these committees and it would be nice to have help from all members.

Actually as I'm writing this I realize that all of you know what we need and whatever you decide will be great.

I do have a few other ideas that I wanted to brainstorm with you, but they can wait.

I thought the Daily Grind art show was a success, but we still need to tweak a few things for next year.
A big thank you for all the members that contributed to the success of the show. A special thank you for Mary Jo, Oscar and Bruce!

If anyone has any photos from the show I will be glad to post them on the BRAGBLOG.

Also if anyone has any artwork to display I will be glad to make your own art gallery in the album photo area.

O-G Jazz Band at the Show

The O-G Jazz Band will play at the Art show at 7:00 on Saturday evening!

BRAG art show update

All BRAG members that are going to exhibit at the BRAG Holiday Art Show can start setting up around 6:30 Friday night at the Daily Grind coffee shop.
The shop closes at 8:00, but it shouldn't take anyone very long to set up.
You can also set up Saturday morning starting at 7:45.
Remember each artist is responsible for their own setup and display.
You will have to hang your own work so bring along a hammer and brads or get yourself some of those Hercules hooks.
Bring tags or have a way to mark your art pcs. with the name and price of each piece.
It should be a pretty laidback time and all artists exhibiting should see if they can spend a few hours at the show over the weekend.
Bring a book, get some beverage comfy down on the couch and have a relaxing time.

CHRISTMAS PARADE

BRAG will be marching in the Ottawa Christmas parade tomorrow and it would be nice, not necessary but nice if you as a BRAG member could help march in the parade to hand out candy and show flyers.
Here is the info from the parade organizer, our own Mary Jo

Start time is 2:00.

The BRAG line-up number in the parade is # 24

If you want to walk with the BRAG group find your spot along Locust Street sometime around 1:30. Dress for the weather. Park in the "Foodtown" lot or swimming pool lot and walk up Locust to the # 24 spot....watch out for the horses! :)

Tell people about the BRAG...and about the Christmas Show on Dec. 8th and 9th.

November Meeting Notes

These are some notes from the meeting that we had this last Tuesday.
The artists that will be exhibiting at the BRAG Holiday Show are Karin Stechschulte, Linda Black, Bruce Stowe, Anna Burwell, Katrina Simbaku, Anne and Steve Coburn-Griffis, Jeanne Beutler, Oscar and Pam Velasquez, Mary Recker, Becca Schroeder, Emily Fruth, Don Huber.

A few guidelines for the exhibiting artist are;
Every artist is responsible for the display of their artwork and the surrounding display including any tables they need along with flyers, cards, pricelists and foodtray if they want to provide snacks for the public. ( All beverages will be available from The Daily Grind).
Each artist has the option of donating a pc of art to the daily drawing. (This is not required)
Each artist is encouraged to design and send out their own show invitations to family and friends.
If you have artwork for sale it must be clearly marked on each piece.

Oscar Velasquez will give a watercolor demo at 4:00 on Saturday
Mary Recker has greenware that the can be decorated on Saturday
Bruce Stowe will be giving an oil painting demo at 3:00 on Sunday
Other artists are encouraged to work on projects at different times throughout the show

Oscar Velasquez will be playing holiday songs at 5:00 on Saturday
Mary Jo Bockrath will play the flute on Saturday from 6:00 - 7:00 and again on Sunday at 1:00
On Sunday we also have the Holiday Brass Ensemble performing at 2:00
The O-G Holiday Jazz Band will also be playing, but I'm still waiting on the performance times

Tammy and Mark head up the press releases to the area papers
Pam and Linda design and setup the preshow display at The Daily Grind
Mary Jo will send show info to area radio stations
Bruce and Oscar will appear on the WLIO noon show in Lima

We will be printing show flyers designed by Judy Ruen
Bonnie will distribute the flyers in the area
BRAG members will be marching in the Ottawa Christmas parade to promote the show on Sunday Nov. 25
We have t-shirts for the marchers

And finally the next meeting is Dec. 4th at The Daily Grind at 7:00 ( we will discuss the show and any last minute details)

November Meeting

The regular November meeting is tomorrow night at 7:00.
We will discuss the Christmas show and if you are exhibiting at the show please try to be there.
